Not the ones that go over the knob.
We have an actual handle, like a lever. My son just walked right outside when my husband went out to take the trash. Scarey!
My older kids go outside to play, and cannot lock the bolt from insde.
Do they make safety covers for lever door handles?

Yes, they do make them. I've only ever seen them online--here's a link to an ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290012071958&category=117027

They do make them... the link above has a great one, and I think that the company First Years (who makes a lot of safety equipment) also manufactures these. I find their products at Toys R Us/ Babies R Us, Target, and Walmart. Another idea is to install a latch at the top of the door where the little one can't reach, or get a door alarm so you know when he's gone out. The First Years also makes the door alarm, which just sticks to the door with double-sided tape and rings when the seal between the two pieces is broken. We have one on the sliding patio door.

Yeah, that is scarry! I just got the plastic ones that go over the door handles. Really made my two year old mad. She can not open the doors now. Tough one, for you, Im not sure they make some for the kind of handles you have. The only other thing I can suggest, is the chain locks that you put up high. But then that locks everyone else out. Perhaps if you have a Babys R Us close by, they can suggest something.

We had this happen, too. It's really scary. We put a hook and eye latch up high on the door so it wouldn't happen again. We do the same on doors in the house we don't want kids in.
