Age isn't just a number when 13 is the number. That's a little young to be dating. Especailly a 16 year old. Mainly cuz at 16 all a boy is thinking about is having sex. all that can be done is for you to stick with it, and don't have sex till you're 17-18 AT LEASt!

In the teen years, there should not be more than 2 years age difference. But in the adult stage of our lives, there should not be any rules. If two people connect spiritualy and intelectualy, the ages are not important

Standard rule is halve your age and add 7 years and that is the minimum age of your partner. So you would be too young for him. But maybe don't take this answer seriously.
