I think that it helps if you stop worrying about worrying.
As a parent we naturally protect them but we cannot do this forever. Mistakes are all part of life and we need to make them so that we can learn from them.
I've never had to use my first aid knowledge and I do worry that I would forget it if it was ever needed. I have been told that this is generally not the case. And it is, after all, better to have some knowledge than none at all.
Good luck :o)

Seems to me that you may find benefit from cognitive- behavioural therapy. You talk about negative thoughts- CBT will help you challenge these thoughts and help you develop new, and more efficient coping skills in order to deal with the natural, and quite understandable anxiety that comes with coping with children. It is a good positive move to learn first aid, and can be considered useful both in terms of helping your self- esteem and a good start in developing the new coping skills. You can find a therapist in your area on bacp.co.uk Click on find a therapist.

You have to learn to trust your children and yourself a bit more. First of all, children are good at bouncing back quicky from knocks and secondly if you do have to use first aid, then you'll not be panicking about how to do you'll think raionally. It will be instinct. If all else fails then get a friend to come out with their children too and then they can help talk to you and calm you down. I wouldn't worry, it'll be ok.

You do have to learn that your kids will sometimes fall and hurt themselves, but that is part of growing up and learning about the world.
I also agree with some of the others on here, you may need help to control your anxiety.

The person who answered talk to the doc is totally correct but it sounds like you may need anti-anxiety medication or treatment, not anti-depressants. Good luck!

i think you should have a chat with your health visitor they are helpful and friendly and will be able to give you more confidence - if your child falls its not always gonna be a bad fall just laugh it off with them! you need to relax more and not show your fears to your children or it will start to affect them and everytime they fall they will be loads or tears even if it didnt hurt them which in most cases they dont
good luck
