Oh Bobby, what a very sensitive thing to ask. Of course it is not out of fashion. And it only takes a kind guy like you to notice and to care. Sigh. You do realise that your attitude is quite a turn on to a young damsel?

Absolutely, chivalry is a sexist practice. I rose out of a male need to protect and care for the physically weaker female of the species.
Does this make it a bad idea? I don't think so. Chivalry has been around since the dawn of time, under many names, and probably for a reason.
The real issue here is that the concept of chivalry and the concept of women's equality are contradictory. Most women nowadays are flattered when someone holds a door for them, pulls out their chair, helps them into a cab, when the man pays for dinner, etc. It makes them feel womanly.
However, a lot of women want all that, and to be treated the same as men when it comes to employment, school, etc. This basically gives the power to a woman to choose when she wants to be treated like a woman, and when she wants to be treated like a man, in addition to holding the "sexual harassment" card if someone treats her like a woman when she doesn't want it.
I think chivalry has its place in our society today, although if the women's lib movement has its way, chivalry may not last much longer.

It can be, when it treats women in a patronising way, but at its root chivalry is simply good manners and common courtesy. Treating women with respect never goes out of style.

I wished chivalry was back..,unfortunately due to the feminist movement men are afraid to be chivalrous as they are afraid they would offend a woman.I like the men of yesteryear.I still like a man to open doors for me,to protect me,and I am a woman of yesteryear as I feel women dont take care of the men they way they should be and used to be.I know I should catch up with the times..,but no its not sexist..,its sexy.Great question and thanks.

Never.
Chivalry should be practiced by both sexes. It involves acts of courtesy that were once commonplace.
Little things - like holding a door open for somebody coming after you, giving up a bus seat for another person.
And, most importantly, saying thank you when somebody does one of these (or something similar) for you.
Chivalry and courtesy are two-way streets, and everybody should practice them at all times.

No. It's being a gentleman. To behave in a sexist manner is to treat women as less than men. To be chivalrous is to treat a woman with class and courtesy.

but sexists try to use chivalry as a defense of their ideas
chivalry is based on honoring women, not helping them because they are weak
