Spoken by someone who obviously knows nothing about this subject. I am constantly hearing about officers being shot and killed while performing their duties, simply because someone refuses to follow the law and would rather take a life than take responsibility for their actions. Something as simple as a Possession of a Controlled Substance, and they take a life because they know they were wrong and are too weak to own up.
I am not say that just because someone is a Peace Officer makes them more than human, I'm not even saying that no Officer would ever fall into the narrow minded criteria you have listed. That is the unfortunate truth of it. However, I am saying that a Peace Officer has a great deal of responsibility, and must have the authority to fulfill their obligations. It's when someone gets stupid, placing the public or the Officers life in danger that an Officer must make that split second decision which will be scrutinized for the next several months to years as if he/she had all the time in the world to decide the level of force to use. Peace Officers are simply humans that the public majority expect to be super human.

I don't see a question in this, but I will answer anyway. Yes police kill people everyday. 98% it is justified, 1% accidental, and 1% unjustified. The vast majority of police officers are good, honest citizens that care about their communities and work within the law. There are a minority that give the rest a bad name. Police officers are human. They make mistakes and have emotions. You paint a bleak picture that is full of inaccuracies and untruths. If you have a better idea of how to enforce the law and protect the public please let us all know. Otherwise, just go back to your rock and crawl under it.

This is NOT the fault, nor the intent, of the police.
Our government has been slowly but steadily MILITARIZING our police, nurturing their feeling of estrangement from the American people, and Republican NEO-conservatives have done their best to win law enforcement's (and the military's) loyalty to THEM. There have been quite a few reported instances of cops (with military overseers) playing "war games", where they go house to house and disarm citizens, guard FEMA "concentration" camps, and there have been a few reported instances of military involvement in police drug raids of high schools, and the military's presence at the Columbine shootings. There is a LOT of very UN-Constitution stuff going on behind our backs, within our government, concerning our police and military. Couple that with the specific changes made to the Constitution, our civil rights, liberties, and our right to trial and due process, and it looks like we are heading for trouble.
Don't blame the cops...they are being played and brainwashed. The ELITISTS are taking over this country. They consider themSELVES to be "The Americans"...the rest of us are just the riff-raff.

I agree, police officers and detectives for the most part have lost the core values that once made them a highly respected professional image. I haven't seen an officer in many years, who was really out trying to serve and protect. Here are my last 2 encounters with the police-
A detective and 2 escorting officers came to my house to accuse me of an internet crime (I posted someones home address on my blog). The guy threatened me with criminal charges and to go get me fired from my job, yet when I asked him to identify which law I broke he couldn't come up with anything. He was rude and nasty and hateful towards me, however I remained calm and explained what public records are, and 1st amendment freedom of speech. I asked him why they weren't working on the report I filed where I had been ripped off in an ebay transaction- that was 6 months ago and nobody was working on it at all. He said because it was online it was ebays responsibility. Where is the logic in that? My blog was online too. He left and I never heard from him again. I did google his name though and saw that a year ago he had beaten someone in his moms bar and broken the guys arm in front of a bunch of witnesses, but no charges were filed. If he wasn't on the 'force' and connected you can bet he would have gotten all kinds of tickets.

The time before that a different cop came to my house to accuse me of 'loud talking' in violation of the town noise ordinance (the ordinance says you can't make noise or sounds that annoy another person, but there's no quantifiable means of measurement). He handed me a municipal ticket for $172 and said he would be back to write another later if I was still talking in my garage. I googled his name and it turns out only a couple of years ago he was suspended for 2 months for forcing a bar tender to keep the bar open past closing and was also involved with groping her, putting handcuffs and a badge on her and taking pictures.

The alderman that the suspended cop was hanging out with at the bar in this article is currently facing up to 100 years in prison for child molestation in the next article.

And this is only the stuff that they got caught for and made it inot the newspapers... So I pretty much agree, our police force has lost the integrity that once made it a respected profession. It's probably not a bad idea to teach your kids that the police are dangerous and stay away from them.

Yes the police are trained to terrorize the people. To dominate and intimidate. They in fact are not law-enforcement officers at all but rather enforcers of government will. Now they use torture devices (tasers) to further our enslavement. Over 200 people have died from being subjected to these "non-lethal" weapons. Are the police held accountable? Hardly. They are congratulated for being brave "heroes" and head down to the local coffee shop where they use their uniforms to scam free meals.

And have for at least a century. Not all police are bad. Just enough to give the profession a bad reputation.
