I am a single 28 y/o guy. I have been single for about 2 and a half yrs now. The friends I do have are all married or might as well be. Its next to impossible to meet people in this city. I always feel like I am trapped alone and sick of it, but nothing I can do about it. Any thoughts?

Next to impossible to find someone? You'd have to live in the desert or the backwoods for that to be the case. What you need to do is enroll or volunteer for things (preferably ones that won't cost you money.) I'm a member of my singles group at church, and there are upwards of 200 in that group.) It's okay to keep in contact with your married friends, but going out with them is only going to make you feel down, and that's not what you want right now. I should know, I've been single for awhile, and anytime I go out with my married friends, I feel like a fifth wheel. Instead, make new friends who are also flying solo, that way you can all go out on the town together. All it takes is a little bit of self-confidence and some motivation, and you'll be on your way!

Seems like you've been single for a while.
There is nothing wrong with being single, infact, single people have tons of fun because they can be free and do what they want without worrying about hurting someone. However, it does get lonely without a partner. If you feel you are ready for a serious commited relationship and are unable to find anyone in the city than try an internet dating service like e-harmony.com.

If your mantra is "Live life by the middle finger", then you may want to consider what kind of image you are projecting. Even in Independence, MO there are plenty of single females right now wishing they could find a nice guy. Like you?

join a club that interests you. Being single you can date as many people as you like at one time. Being single is freedom. you can learn new skills to better your life such as cook nice meals at the same time, once you date you can impress that girl.

you can be coming from a 23 year old girl just go to movies and reading, focus on you're studies and have a steady job.

If you have had enough, mix with more of the opposite sex and ask someone out. if you don,t fancy them ask someone else, you have to take risks otherwize you will not get nowhere.
