You can type onto the page in word and print it but once converted to a PDF file it does not let you in to type on the page and print. Should I have done something before or after converting?

You cannot edit a PDF document unless you have Adobe Acrobat not the reader but the Acrobat program itself. Typically you need to save the Word document as a Word document you can edit and then you do the conversion after you've made all the changes to the Word file.

You can edit a PDF document with Acrobat but I do not recommend it. The edit capability on Acrobat is not as good as Word and it was never meant to be a full version editor.

PDF files are not documents. They are actually "picutres" made of the Word document. This allows them to viewed on PC with the free Adobe Reader. But they are no longer editable. You have to go back to the original Word document, make your changes there, and then resave as a new PDF file. That is how PDF works.

The whole purpose of a .pdf file is that is does NOT allow changes - all changes should've been made prior to conversion. Some versions of Adobe will allow changes, check for updates on their site.

I believe you need to use Adobe Acrobat Writier which allows you to write. Simple Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 doesn't allow writing.
