Laser Eye Surgery Risks... Hope you find this helpful!!!
Although it is only a very small percentage of people who experience any problems with corrective laser eye surgery, as with any surgical procedure there are risks involved. These can range from minor irritations to major crises, so it is worth carefully investigating the clinic and options available to you before committing to any treatment.
Laser eye surgery is still a ‘young' operation and isn't suitable for everyone. Those with large pupils, thin corneas and other medical conditions will generally be advised against the operation.
Overall the success rate for laser eye surgery is good, but problems can and do occur. Most clinics claim a 99% success rate (for each eye), but finding reliable statistics is a tricky business. Clinics keep their own records and there is no central body overseeing procedures. If you have any concerns whatsoever talk them through with your eye care specialist and don't be afraid to go seek a second opinion.
There are numerous sources of information regarding the risks involved with laser-eye surgery, below are several links to sites with more in-depth discussions on these associated risks.
BBC: A useful article with well laid out advice and content
U.S. Food and Drug Administration: A comprehensive and understandable site.
Eye Surgery Education Council: Objective and informative site
All About Vision: LASIK and PRK frequently asked questions.
Irish Health: A good informative site presenting a lot of the pros and cons of laser eye surgery
Good luck and best wishes!!!

I was just short of legally blind when I had laser surgery on both of my eyes in 1997. It was miraculous! I could wake up in the morning and not need to put on my glasses; I could drive without glasses; I could go to the beach and find my family when I came out of the sea. I have had no after effects and would recommend the procedure to anyone who is very short-sighted. The procedure is very quick, just a few seconds for each eye, is not painful and in my opinion worth every penny of the cost.

Yes it is, nowadays it's a very common surgery, you don;t even get to put to sleep totally, just a sedation around the eyes. My mother had it done as my brother and also a couple of friends, they are all so happy to have done it, seems like a whole new world opening up. The cons... With some people it takes a couple of days to get rid of the pain, any other cons, I haven't heard of...

if you're suitable, go for it. I had it done in Feb and it's the best money I've ever spent. However, your eyes do need to be stable for a period before surgery, at least 1 year, but possibly more, so if yours are getting progressively worse you may not be suitable.
Make an appointment at a clinic which offers free no obligation consultations, I went to Ultralase, and see what they say. You really have nothing to lose by going to speak to them.
Good luck

1. Ask Your doctor about that
2. people who I know that had done have limited night vision
3. it isn't a proven surgery (it is still fairly new) and your eyes change over time so what happens when you reach old age?
4. that will have to be something you will need to decide for yourself and seriously weigh all the factors.
5. I don't think it is a good idea, but I don't have to make your decision.

Yup, my uncle had it done and he sees fine now. The surgeon messed up a bit and he had a 6 month instead of six week recovery time instead of 6 week so he got 250$ off an eye.

Tiger Woods had it done and afterwards he won three tournaments straight. Aparently he could "read the greens much better"... I would love to have it done but my eyes need to 'settle' before I can e.g. I think my prescription has to remain constant for over 1 year, but my eyes are constantly getting worse.
Go for it....
