As long as the dog grows up around the rabbit, he'll consider it a friend. They can become playmates. I had a bunny and my son came home with a Black Lab/Chow puppy, they grew up together, groomed eachoher, ate together, slept beside each other. They were really close, a kid from the neighborhood got mad because she wouldn't let him catch her, and he threw something at her. She died and the dog mourned his friend for months. I'd find him laying in the yard where she died. He was inside when she died, but, he could smell where she had been. My daughters chuhuahua/jack russel mix loves playing with the bunnies. As long as the dog is a puppy and grows up with the bunny there he'll only see it as a friend.

As with most animals, they can if raised together but I wouldn't suggest a golden retriever( great dogs) because they are a hunting dog breed. If you must get a pup i wouldn't suggest any hunting dog breeds or terriers...I had two baby rabbits and they got out and the dogs got them.....dogs in general might not get along with rabbits because they may still have the "hunting " instinct with itself. Hope this was of some help to you and if and when you get a pup, introduce the pup/rabbit carefully and not leave them alone by theirselves!

Hm well if you get a grown dog then no they wont get along but if you get a puppy then mostly they will get along. I should know because i have 2 dogs and one is a golden retriever. Golden retrievers are the best kind of dogs too ever have because they protect your family and get along with different animals and baby animals. It's good to get a puppy and once you get it just sit for a few mins with both of your pets and let them get too know eachother

I know that my rabbit did NOT like the puppy I brought home. Now we have to keep them in separate rooms. I have heard of people have better success when you get the two at the same time.

Yes they will get along, it is good that you are introducing the puppy to your rabbit at a young age. You will have nothing to worry about.

Be carefl. My Golden Retreiver eats bunnies. If you raise them together, they might be okay. My dog seems to love cats. I worry that she thinks she's a cat sometimes.

If by "get along" you mean "dogs eat rabbits", then yes, they'll get along fine.
