Hey Blessing B,

I recommend talking to others that are researching your Hale family. Perhaps another distant cousin may have answers. Check the Genforum site and other HALE FAMILY sites. Then strike conversations with some that are of interest. You may find that James served in the Civil War also - possibly.

I have a bunch of Civil War and Revolutionary War ancestors from Exiter NH - Sanbourn mostly but many other names. Anyway, try some of these sites.

I did look at the Family Search site and found one record - but it listed no family ties.

You may find that you can prove some of the conjecture with DNA for other research that these people are doing - as relative to you. Try the DNA sites to see if there is a HALE project, or start one.

I did a little search on my limited means of the Internet, and found only a James Hale married to a Sarah Bartlett, with the same dates you listed. His father is listed as James Warren Hale or James Hamilton Hale, depending on the source. I don't have access to Ancestry.com, so you might try there. I am a beginner at this. Better luck to you than I've had with a similar search.
