I agree. I also believe that people who believe in a positive afterlife should want to die, but few seem to.

I believe because people always want to put their hope in something or someone whether or not you believe in God. For example before I am became a disciple of Christ, I put my hope in actors, singers, sport atheltes, and or a teacher I admired to look up to and/or change my attitudes, behaviors, perspective on life, and the way I think. We can have many things or people that can influence our life. But even with God nothing is changed overnight, you have to work at it, as with any other relationship; family, spouse, friends, co-workers, etc. Unfortunately many people that say they know God or are professing Christians just go through the motions and act and think like everyone else.

Because it's not all about me. But believing in God does make the world a much better place.

If people truly believe in God, are saved and repent of their sins, it will improve their behavior. Yes, we all backslide and continue to sin, but we are more aware of our sin, are aware of the consequences, and therefore strive to improve ourselves.

Also, those who believe in God, and more specifically Christians, recognize that this mortal world is not the only or even the most important aspect of our existence. We recognize that our lives will continue on, forever, after this mortal world passes away. So, even if a person is saved and that has no impact on their mortal life (which is very unlikely) their belief is far from useless because they have gained eternal life with God and escaped eternal suffering in hell.

Who said that it doesn't improve ones behavior?!!
In your opinion to make the world a better place would be, probably, to do whatever you want without having to answer to anyone and without hearing that Jesus is the way..am I right?..Well...
Sorry to say that we aren't going anywhere until our work is done..and you know in our (Christian) opionion..this world would be a better place if there were no more sin, suffering and death..and some day..that's the way things will be, but for now we just have to strive to be the way that God wants us to be.

My belief in God has certainly improved my behavior. I used to anger easily. I now remember that Jesus taught love and compassion, and I try to be more understanding. I donate my time and money to help the less fortunate. I'm making the world a better place? Are you doing the same?

Strange as it may seem, some believers to do not really associate their beliefs with their worldly behavior.

They associate their beliefs primarily with the after-life, because 'the world' is filled with sin to be avoided and endured until the faithful are joyously called to heaven.

Of course, this can only make sense to those who believe it.

What is funny is that you will find more Christians and other believers in god in our prisions. They constantly believe that they are saved because of Jesus Christ. They confess like the Catholic Priest and were saved from their sins only to be able to go and do them again. So many people claim that Jesus died for their sins, but it is just an excuse to commit more. Religion is pointless, if not dangerous.

In my opinion, there are alot of believers and most want to do good but either can't or won't. The born-again Christians strive to make Him happy, thus, I think, making the world a better place. I'm not knocking those not born-again...it took me 38 years to get there, and I'm also not knocking non-believers, there are plentry of good non-believers!

First You have to have a close devotion to reading your bible.Once you know the word of God and get a closer walk with god and have faith he will give you the will power to change. So It is all up to us as his followers to change.I will have to disagree with you.God does make this world a better place to live.
