I am a 17 year old Male, playing Football, have had heat exaustion in the past.

I now at times get VERY weak during practice sometimes, it feels like my strength is sucked out of me, and I can't catch my breath.

I have had a sonagram making sure my heart valves are OK and they are.

I am very excited and apprehensive about this season, my Dad thinks it is all mental?

HELP!

By the way, this happens sometimes at the start of practice, and now that it is cooler, I don't think this is heat.

Thanks

The question you need to ask yourself is are you getting stressed at the thought of playing a game?? Maybe it is a slight panic attack sort of situation, my doc told me that if you get the clammy hard to breathe when breathing in it is a classic symptom of anxiety.

Are you drinking enough water as well?? How is your overall diet?

Remember to enjoy the game for yourself first and foremost and I am sure that things will be ok then.

Good luck and play well but ENJOY

It does not have to be hot outside to suffer from heat exhaustion. If your body is not hydrated as it should be and you are exercising then you are exposing yourself to heat exhaustion. When you are doing an activity that causes you to sweat, you can lose up to a gallon of water an hour. If you are drinking lots of water your sodium intake may be too low which will cause you to feel vey tired and weak, maybe even dizzy. You need to speak with your doctor and he may recommend you take salt tablets. DO not use table salt instead, it is not the same.

Most likely an issue with your brain. Usually weakness in the body is caused because of poor brain signals or a disorder in the brain. Go to a doctor and ask for a ct (sometimes called cat) scan.

Hope that helps and good luck.

I assume you had to have a physical check-up before you started practice. Check with your doctor if you are worried about starting the season. Being nervous and excited can definitely make your body do weird things. Good luck.
