The Kennel Club is a legit registrie the Intercontinental Club is what is known as a scam registery. It is a registry that was made by BYB and Mills in order to register dogs that couldn't be registered by legitimat registries. The intercontinental registry ranks right there with the CKC (continental Kennel Club, Canine Kennel Club), ACA (American Canine Association) WW (World Wide Kennel Club) as worthless registries that less then responsible breeders use to con buyers into believing they actually have a registered dog.
Chances are you won't be able to trace your dogs pedigree because it isn't registered with a reputable regsitry.

Here's the web site for AKC. My black lab is registered through them.
http://www.akc.org/
I looked up Intercontinental Kennel Club and it appears it may not be legitimate. Read this for yourself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staffordshire_Bull_Terrier
http://www.edreid.co.uk/
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/welfare/domestic/ddcircular80.1992.pdf#search=%22intercontinental%20kennel%20club%22
http://igorilla.com/gorilla/animal/2002/pit_bull_trade_england.html
http://dogbreedinfo.com/irishstaffordshirebullterrier.htm
The site said the AKC does not recognize the IKC as a legitimate organization. I have never heard of the IKC, but the sites I've pasted here should help you differentiate what the truth is.

If you have the KC registration the parents, grandparents and great grandparents names should be on it. You should be able to trace them by contacting the kennel club as they will have records of this.
Another idea would be to do a search on their names on the internet as if they have won any shows there will be a record of this and possibly photos too.

If your dog is registered as a pedigree then you should be able to get hold of a copy of their pedigree certificate from the kennel club, this should have its parents pedigree names and, if you're lucky its grandparents as well! Happy hunting!

Very difficult to trace the dogs parents, but is there no information on the dogs papers. I know my friend tried to do what you're doing four or five years ago but didn't really get that far... best of luck with the search.
