It was only recently that I've installed iTunes, and it flat out defeats every other media player I've ever tried. For music, it's phenomenal.

However, I've yet to play a video in it. Does it support video playback, and if so, what file types?

Oh, and for the record, I downloaded it with the internet. I don't yet have an iPod.

iTunes should have comed bundled with QuickTime, in which case it supports all the video format that are not proprietary to another company (like .rm for Real or asx for Windows)

It plays Quicktime videos and mp4 vids from other sources.Use the Apple Website for all ITunes inquiries. You can even download a PDF manual for your Ipod.
