Pascal's wager isn't even a valid argument for anything. It's a narrow minded acceptance of societal terms based on a lack of absolute knowledge.

Honesty is the best policy.

Pascal's wager is pretty sad...

And yet he is hailed as one of the greatest geniuses...

If he was a genius than his wager is the most degrading of all he has done. It is philosophically unthoughtful and very weak; something you would expect an average joe to come up with rather than someone of supposed intellect <_>

He certainly didn't think it through, and neither does anyone that believes it.

Pascal's wager was invented to keep believers afraid of exposing themselves to information that might tend to undermine belief. It never was intended as a conversion tool. Only the most foolish of nonbelievers would accept such an absurd form of argument.

You're absolutely right - Pascal's Wager is one based entirely upon fear and indecisiveness. Hail Satan!

Do people think god can't see through pascal's wager?

The religious are always using this space to promote it though!

I would rather be honest and live honestly and with courage. Let my living mean something and my death mean more. I wonder if C.S.Lewis purloined Pascal's wager?

I respect atheists, even though I am a mystic. I am NOT afraid of God. He can't do anymore harm to my life than he already has. Like letting me be born by a woman with no brain.

Ok, Pascal's Wager is a new concept to me, so let me see if i got this straight...

If you don't believe in God, and God does not exist, then you lose nothing.

If you don't believe in God, and He does exist, then you go to hell.

If you do believe in God, and He does not exist, then you lose nothing.

If you do believe in God, and He does exist, then you gain eternal life and reward in Heaven.

Therefor, it's a better bet to believein God.

ok...so by that logic....

If you do not believe in the Magic Unicorns of Oma-Zhi, and they don't exist, you lose nothing.

If you do not believe in the Magic Unicorns of Oma-Zhi, and the do exist, then you will be tickled for eternity by the evil Dinks.

If you do not believe in the Magic Unicorns of Oma-Zhi, and they do not exist, you lose nothing.

If you do believe in the Magic Unicorns of Oma-Zhi, and they do exist, you'll be reward with eternity in the golden city of PHOOM!

....all Hail the Magic Unicorn of Oma-Zhi! For it's a better bet.
