For many people it is easier to make their own rules than to live by an absolute standard. If I am a thief, it is easier to say that what I do is only a pay-back for what I feel has been done to me. A good example is someone who steals from a store, and who justifies his/her behavior by thinking, "It's a big store--they can afford it. And besides, their prices are too high." They are simply making up their own rule. To their way of thinking, ALL of life is to be ordered according to their own standards. There is no room for God or His holy standards for them. That's the tragedy that defines American values for this generation.

First of all, there were more claims made about Jesus or in his name than he ever made. Where is the gospel of Jesus? I haven't seen it. There are gospels about Jesus. There is an anthology of selected gospels published, the Bible. We have no direct writings from the man himself. And the gospels included in the Bible were selected by leaders of the church because they served their political and economic ends.
There have always been debates and disagreements about the meaning and teachings of the Bible. These go back centuries. This is one of the causes of the Protestant Reformation. And where on Earth, given the multitude of different translations and variations of the Bible, did you ever get the impression that it has survived in a pure form?
I won't go far into your fulfilled prophecy argument. Suffice it to say that people see images of Jesus in pizza dough, floor finishes, mud pies and who knows what else. Humans have an uncanny ability to forge connections between even unrelated events. Any number of your fulfilled prophecies have been fulfilled under at least six different interpretations and are repeatedly refitted with each new tragedy that comes along. And my understanding from the Nostradamus people is that he is scoring pretty well also.
So, yes, please seek the truth. But don't be so afraid of discovering that you are mistaken that you keep your intellectual blinders on the rest of your life.

The New Testament and all known evidence is completely compatible with the theory that Jesus is a purely mythical person.
There is solid evidence that early Christians knew he was mystical in nature, and that the idea he was a human being who actually lived in the flesh came later as the gospels were being invented.

or he was taken out of context .. or the words were edited etc
there are so many ways to look at this .. it isnt all black and white
and i say this respectfully as one who believes jesus existed and one who does read the bible
although i am not christian
but there are so many " maybes " that it is only the faith of the reader that makes it a truth or non truth
in addition .. i have many many spiritualist books that i believe to be correct as the words are backed by evidence but i would not present this to be the ultimate truth for everyone ... we are all different with different needs and beliefs

It depends how you define truth. Philosophically, there is no truth, as you can't be sure of anything - you can believe, you can perceive, but you can't know. If you're into Descartes, then the only thing you can be sure of is that YOU exist because of your thoughts.
But I think you are seeing truth in a different way to me. You are seeing it as a religious thing... many people see it philosophically, without the barriers of religion. That is why people can't determine absolute truth.

This the only explanation to what you are asking. This is the prophesy:
2 Peter 3:1-7 (King James Version)
1This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Now you have research what is going on in the world and why.
In reference to the 1ST Comment:
Leviticus 19:26-28
26Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
27Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:31
31Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:6
6And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Deuteronomy 18:9-14
9When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
14For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
This is one of the few areas that talk about Witchcraft as to what the 16 Y/O is into. THus now she has to make a choice, of Jesus Christ or eternal hell-fire.
The passage leave her phylosophy Null and Void.

Well, there are a very large number of other religions in the world who have their own creation stories.
Why is the Christian creation/evolution decision the only option here?

The thing is, "truth" is subjective. There's "truth," and there's "THE TRUTH." The latter is definitive, but it's also unknowable so there's no point in bothering with it. Hail Satan!
