A friend of mine spent 4 years in jail in Turkey and she desparately wants to visit the USA but is concerned that she'll arrive there and get sent straight back. How can she find out if she won't be refused entry? Also are there any hidden details that may be on her passport. Since the conviction she has married and changed her passport, would this affect it any way. Please could someone help as I can't find a website that is able to answer these questions. Thanx. MMS

you are not allowed to vist the usa for 5 years if it is a violent or drug realted crime you are not allowed to apply to live there for 10 years it will be on the passport if it has one of these new chips in the back as that is one of the things they are for also she should of been told this after leaving jail and if she trys to go and isnt allowed could get in trouble for trying as in england it is something u agree not to do when u are realsed so i would guess all countrys do the same check it out with the probation service i would say as they are good with that kinda stuff

She will have problems trying to obtain a visa. If you see the website for the American visas there is a special part for people with criminal convictions! have a look...

To be on the safe side she needs to obtain a visa from her nearest US Embassy.

She will need to tell them the truth,or take a chance that they do not know.

I know people who have criminal records and have not obtained visas, some have got into the US others have been sent back.

I'm not married but I had to declare my convictions to the US embassy to get a Visa - lots of rules etc to follow
. They were very nice about it

they are pretty damn picky about that, a friend of mine was refused entry because of a drink driving conviction. speak to the us embassy wherever she is.
