With any dog FIRST you need to become its leader. Do what a mother dog would do if her pup misbehaves. You must get in between the pup and the furniture, when it looks like the pup is about to jump. Keep in front of the pup and gradually force the pup to back up, simply by walking toward it. When the pup is on the furniture, you must take it by the scruff of the neck, just like a mother dog would, and drag it to the floor. Then stand in between it and the furniture. Any verbal command must be sharp and quickly given. Don't nag or beg. Dogs don't respect that.
ASAP you must train your pup to walk on lease. When walking with your dog, do not let the dog be in front of you. Of course there needs to be short time outs for the pup to pee, poop, and do other doggy things. You are the leader, therefore you must be in front. 30-60 minute walks are an excellent way to establish your leadership roll. Plus your pup will be calmer in the house and you will be more fit.
"The Dog Whisperer", a TV show, offers excellent educational and entertaining ways to establish your roll as the pup's leader.

A puppy is a puppy, nevertheless you ought to push the puppy down off the furniture after having scolded it by using a mean voice. By not encouraging it to come up on the furniture (e.g. tapping the seat of a couch or not paying any attention to the dog unless it is jumping up), try to talk to the dog while it is still on the ground so that it doesn´t feel that it needs to come up.

Put a long sheet of aluminum foil across the couch. When the puppy jumps up the sound of the foil crunching will scare him. He will associate the bad sound with jumping on the couch and therefore will stop after a few times.

Use a squirt bottle filled with water -- squirt the puppy and say a firm "no" and move the puppy off the couch. have another area with a towel or blanket that belongs to the puppy and place the puppy on it. When the puppy is on it, be sure to give it a small treat.

I like to use a spray bottle with water in it as a punishment. Spray the puppy with the water bottle and say "down!" in a stern voice. Make sure not to use the dogs name when you say this. The dogs name is a praise.

Everytime he gets on the furniture, put him back on the ground while firmly saying "No" or "Get Down" or w/e you prefer.
Its worked with all the dogs i've known when the owner didn't want them on the furniture.
Personally though, I dont mind it.

get an empty spray bottle at the dollar store, and fill it with regular tap water, and whenever he gets on the furniture, tell him firmly "NO" and spray him once or twice, NOT IN THE FACE, maybe on his chest, and if he doesn't like it, then he will jump down, and eventually, if he does it again, you can just reach for the bottle and he'll get down.

Only allow him up when you invite him. Be firm and patient. Tell him "no" and set him back down. Praise him when he stays down. Also make sure that everyone is being consitent....if someone else is letting him up then it will confuse him.

raise the furniture up 2 foot or more. Or keep the dog outside. It's your dog, not a person.
