I asked a girl out, via email, about a week ago, and have heard nothing. There is a big age gap issue, 24 yrs, and I'm afraid that may have scared her off. I told her it was okay to say "no", but she has said nothing. What should I do? Just drop it? What is she doing? Thinking about it? Having a good laugh? Why can't she just be direct and say Y or N?

well first off you asked her out all wrong. never ask someone out through email or IM....the phone is pretty bad too but it's better than those two. ask a girl out in person. if you would've asked her out in person or over the phone, then she would have given you an answer right away. i hope that helps for you in the future of asking another girl out.

I think this may be her way of saying no. 24 years is a big age
difference. If you are 24 years older than her that's a big
consideration. If you can't take the silence then call her and get
a direct answer. Maybe you should have done that anyway, an
email is not my idea of asking for a date!

Yeah, she's blowing you off. She's probably not thinking about it at all.
Also, yeah, it would have been way cooler if she'd actually told you,"no," but plenty of guys never call you again when the are no longer interested. So it's kinda standard.
In addition, it's kind of lame to ask someone out via email.

So I assume she is much younger and not much older.
Dont' say it's ok to say no. That's foolish. You just ask to do something. Obviously she can say no if she wants, don't encourage her.
Anyway, hopefully she is at least 18. She might just be having trouble deciding. Maybe in a few months you can ask again. She might just not be able to decide. Sometimes these are tough decisions.

Why couldn't you just be direct and ask her in person?
If you're the older one, she has a right to be scared off. IF you're the younger one, you made yourself look ridiculous by asking through e-mail. (Actually, that's ridiculous either way.)
She's clearly not interested, so move on. Leave the poor girl alone.

truthfully you probably have, but that's life. in a pack of ten candies nine of them will surely always be duds.
she may try to get intouch with you again, if so ignore her. A woman's behaviour hardly ever changes as they get older. it's instinctive.

Girls are not like boys who can express them no matter what, they need sometime to think over and I suppose talking to her again would be a good idea to do.

maybe you scared her off or you said something wrong...
if you dont knowa the girl that much and ask her out maybe you got her running out onto her shell....
talk to her personally and ask her whats wrong...thatd the only way youll get the answer

your error was asking her out in an email instead of in person or over the phone.
I wouldn't reply to something like that either - it was very poor taste
