They are NOT.

Catholicism was created by The high priest of the roman sun god. His name was Constantine. He was also the Emperor of Rome. As Christianity became more popular he knew it was a religion he could hijack and warp to use as a way to control the population. The catholic church says he converted and was baptized however history shows that he was only baptized on his deathbed when he could no longer fight back. Constantine convened the Nicene council to "make up" the dogma and tenants of Catholicism. Many of the truths of Christianity were bastardized at that point and all religions that evolved from that church are not True. Over the centuries Catholicism has been used to control populations and kings and proof of it's evilness is evidenced by it's clergy who disobey God by ignoring Gods plan of marriage and "being fruitful and multiplying" and by the huge numbers of Homosexual Pedophile Clergy and the many who shelter and enable them within that church. Catholics also disobey God by praying to humans(thou shalt have no other god before me) and Idols. I could go on all day. The Catholic Church has been Apostate since it's inception. A bad seed can not grow a good fruit.

Catholics are Christians. They just worship differently than other churches. There are only 3 things that are basic to being a Christian. 1. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He died for our sins and our salvation. 2. Jesus is the Son of God. 3. The Trinity. The Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit

It is not christian because they give more honor to Mary then they should and put her as a figure up there with Moses. They do not believe you have to know Jesus to make it to heaven and do not think Jesus is as important as Christians make him to be. To catholics, Jesus is just another smaller figure in the bible like Moses, Mary, John, Mark, Luke and all those. God is what their focus is on. This is why Catholicism is more popular for women and feminists because they feel more comfortable with the practice of giving so much honor to Mary instead of Jesus. This is why there is so much evil involved in Catholicism also such as the pedophilia incidents and other crimes in the religion. Catholicism is not as strict as Christianity and there are many beliefs in it that separate it from Christianity.

who told you that? Not only is the catholic church christian, it's the original church. Read a history book.

Up until 1035 there was no other Christian church. Catholic means universal.

I learned this in my 9th grade history class. I went to a public school. Of course, they didn't mention the split in 1035. They talked about the split in 1500 when Martin Luther came about. Which was what led to the largest division. Of course now there's about 33,000 christian denominations and they all claim to be the true church.

I learned a lot more when I went to RCIA classes and became a catholic.

In the beginning the argument was not that the catholic church wasn't the original church, everybody knew that. It was that they adopted false doctrines, etc. Basically, people disagreed with what they taught. Except for the Eastern church who simply refuse to have the pontiff of rome as their Pope. Then also the Anglican church which came about because St. Thomas Moore refused to approve King Henry VIII's divorce.

Today people villafy the catholic church. They say it's the whore or babylon (which was really ancient rome). They say it's not the true church, etc. Usually the reason behind this, is sin. The largest sin of course being pride. They don't want to be wrong or have to accept things they don't feel are correct. Like: birth control, confession, good works, actually having to repent....

I've always thought that Catholics are Christians for that very fact...they believe in Jesus Christ as the saviour.I don't understand why they pray to the virgin Mary, though instead of through Jesus. But they are considered Christian.

Yes, Catholics are Christian. They have a different take on salvation and some other stuff (such as praying to Mary) but the basic theology is similar enough to call them Christian. I was a Catholic for the first 15-16 years of my life. Now I am mainstream Christian.

Not everyone that believes in Jesus is a christian. Look at Islam,They accept Jesus as a prophet not as god.Which makes them not christian.Catholics have broken the second commandment which says"You shall not make yourself an Idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on earth beneath or in the waters below".There are so many other reasons, including the reason they have a pope, which is Not biblical at all.IF you do the research you will see.

I am Christian and I find Catholocism very disturbing.
Although many believe catholics to be the same branch of christianity just because we both believe in Jesus is not necessarily true in my opinion.

Catholics almost seem to make Mother Mary a diety and use her basically as a middle-man of prayers to God/Jesus/Holy Ghost. Same goes with the Pope and what not. Their doctrines are very old testament such as lent.

The New Testament which emphasizes on Jesus as savior and none shall come to know God except through him.

The Catholic bible has more books compared to the Holy Bible which I believe to be like blasphemy because the Bible should not be added to because it is the word of God.

but so do Mormans, Unification church and Jehovah witnesses...
they all use those terms... but they can mean very different things

at least Catholic Protestant and Eastern Orthodox generally agre on the terms...but.... not so easy.....a person can be Catholic and Christian and a person can be Catholic and not Christian..

To be a Chrsitian with saving faith, a person needs to glorify God, knowing God, leaning on the work of Jesus on the Cross, believing for eternal life

some people find gospel substitutes in Mary or their own accomplishments.. or many other things...
some find gospel substitutes in their own good works instead of Jesus work or in their sincerity or emotions or even subjective experiences

Its not an only Catholic problem... its and everybody sorta problem

Jesus said "the son of man has not come to be served but to serve and give his life a ranson for many" Mark 10:45.. we need to let Jesus serve us on the cross AND THEN we can serve Him acceptably

too often we try and pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and dissrespect God by not letting God do his perfect work in us through the cross and THEN serve him in wonderful ways

on paper the Catholic church doesnt approve of good works for salvation, but in practice grace is often misunderstood and underappreciated by members and in practice often gospel substitutes abound...and Catholics got no monopoly on gospel substitutes
