I have this "friend" who I hooked up with for a while but things cooled down due to distance, and none of us wanted a relationship. But he always sends me text messages with real sweet things but then I'll answer and he hardly ever answers. I don't get it, why bother at all with messages? He only appears every once in a while and I think it has to do with me not forgetting about him. Any ideas????

The messages may or may not have any real meaning.
I think he just sends them to keep u around.
XAMPLE:
"Oh let me send her a message so she won't think I lost interest so I can always come back and get some when I want to!' and then he just goes on his merry little way probably with another chick who means more to him.
He only put in the minimum effort cuz he know he can get in ur pants. NOTHING MORE.
Why buy the cow when u get the milk for free?
He is using u, get your self-esteem up and find someone who can at least respond to your text messages.
Until u find yourself stay by yourself.
Love yourself first, the rest will follow...

Go find a real man, do you really want to play games over a long distance relationship with an ex "friend with benefits"? I'm sure there are plenty of guys around you all the time who would be happy to have you by thier side.

if you have seen each other for a while, he might be shame to speak with you, and that is the only way he can get to you. When I called my former friend, I don't leave message, only page.
