Horse Like Pungent Steak, Snails Like Rubber And Frogs Legs Like Chicken. The French Are Not The Only People That Eat These Things.

I've eaten horse meat and frogs legs, but in England not France. They used to sell horse meat cheap on some market stalls and label it 'hamburger' or 'mince' but without mentioning 'beef'. Its very red compared to beef and not as 'beefy' tasting. Frogs legs are quite nice, like a cross between chicken and prawn. Not much meat on them though.

Across the British Isles poor people have eaten snails when they have nothing else, it used to be called 'rock hen' or 'wall hen', in the same way that squirrel was called 'tree rabbit'.

In France and other European countries Horse meat is regularly sold in markets......tastes like "horse meat." There are several breeds of horses that are used for meat.......Frog legs taste like frog legs whether they are eaten in France or Louisiana. Snails (are snails). escargot is NOT high on my list of consumption. I think it has something to do with being wealthy, you can afford them, eat them. It doesn't make them any more palatable, it's just that you can afford them. They taste like highly seasoned slime. Yuk..........

Eaten all of them. They all taste good. Horse or donkey is frequently used in European dried sausages. When I was a child we used to have two horsemeat butchers in Newcastle on Tyne and we bought horsemeat to feed the dog. Can't understand the sentiment that says it's OK to eat some animals but not others - pigs are at least as intelligent as horses but meat eaters don't get sentimental about bacon. The secret is in humane breeding, rearing and slaughter - give the animal a good life, a good death and respect for what it gives you.

frog legs are quite nice. Snails are okay, but the texture bothered me. horse meat are kinda like beef a little bit harder though or maybe its because of some parts of the meat.

People in the Philippines especially those who are living in the farm consider frog's legs and snails as a part of everyday meal. I haven't eat any of those but I would love to try.

Frogs legs. Fried. Taste like chicken. They twitch in the pan and you only get a nibble off each one but they are delicious. Cook for around 5 minutes as they are only tiny. Eat as you would a chicken leg with your fingers. Around 5 to 10 per person.

I've just eaten a horse steak. It tastes like beef steak, but has less fat/cholesterol.
Frog's legs I've only tried once. Delicious but gave me a bit of a conscience. Didn't seem right somehow.
Snails are a really good starter. For Brits they taste a bit like black pudding. Can't translate that into US English.
I've also eaten snake, and that really did taste like chicken.
Snails aren't expensive, and they're not slimy. You do of course have to cook them!

I have had both escargot and frog legs. Frog legs are similar to chicken in consistency, but are more tender and have a flavor all their own. Escargot is awesome. When properly prepared it can be very, very good. It has a consistency similar to either squid or octopus and tends to take on the flavor of the cooking medium, usually garlic and lemon.
