They are not the general workhorse that the PC tries to be but, they are extremely impressive at what they do.

I currently use a Win XP PC, A Win 2000 / Xandros 3 dualboot laptop, and OSX on a Mac Mini. Out of them all I prefer the Mac.

It doesn't try to be all things to all people, it's just good solid kit.

I've recently switched to Mac and I can honestly say, I'm in love. There's just no question any more... Mac is the way to go. There isn't one thing that you can't do on a Macintosh, thanks to Apple's BootCamp software. Now that Macs can run Windows, you will find that you can have the best of both worlds. Even though you CAN run Windows, you'll find yourself spending more time using Mac OS X. A new Mac will come with everything you need to organize your music and photos. You can edit digital videos and make beautiful DVD movies. Best of all, it's so easy. It's all drag and drop. You'll be amazed at the things a Mac can do right out of the box. Don't be intimidated by the fear of trying something new. You'll love Mac, too. It's a wonderful time to switch. Before Windows Vista ships, there will be a new version of Mac OS X. It's called Leopard. Leopard is set to blow Vista right out of the water. I've seen the previews, and it looks amazing. There's tons of new features to get excited about. I could spend all day going over all of the reasons why you should own a Mac. Just spend some time browsing the Apple website and you'll find out all kinds of fascinating things about Mac.

Macs are generally more expensive because of their unique design and the simple face that Macs tend to have superior hardware. But, in the long run, you'll spend less money on a Macintosh, as you won't require upgrades as often as a PC. That, and Macs come with most of the software you'll ever need. Not much to buy in the way of software, unless you want to get into the Pro apps.

I've used PCs for years, and I've never been able to say "I love my PC." But, I can tell you that I love my Macintosh. I'll never buy another PC again.

I switched from using a PC for over 10 yrs to a Mac, and I can state catogorically that a Mac is by far superior.

I can actually spend time WORKING on the Mac instead of constantly maintaining my PC...I gave my brand new PC away within a week of getting my Mac, and its really childplay to use...much simplier than a PC - 99% of my periphials worked upon being connected with no software needed, and it really did work right out of the box...no tweaking to be done...

I repair PC's and life with a Mac is like a holiday in luxury with beautiful sandy beaches and perfect climate compared to Microsoft Windows XP which is like a grimy holiday on stormy/stoney British beach.

Overall build quality and quality of the graphic's is superb, ..and the OS X op system ROCKS

I am converted 100%....and I would never install microsoft on my Mac even though I can...I have no need for it!

I have not had one problem since I first got my Mac in May 2006...How many times has your PC crashed since May???

10/10 for the Apple Mac!

they are far better than pc based laptops as OSX "O S TEN" macs operating system is far superior to windows Xp, which after 5 years still is full of breaches and virus contamination. Mac offer a system where viruses are not easy caught due to most being windows based. They never seem to crash and are faster compared to their PC based counterpart. As for the price, Macs as a rule were generally more expensive, but as the years have gone on are starting to drop in price to compete with PC based laptops. Although i have a PC and laptop running XP at home I use a mac powerbook for work and find it far better and easier to use

Nope.

Apple's products are overall fancier and better polished than most PCs, but they're not as useful since there is less software for Macs.

I know some Mac-heads are going to reply saying "yeah, but you can run Windows on a Mac too!!!" Well yeah, but then not only are you paying an arm and a leg for the Mac, but you're ALSO buying a Windows XP license.

Just save yourself a lot of grief and get a PC.

They price gap is coming down, but they are far superior, both in design and function. But here's the main reason why they are better, one which negates many of the comments above:

MACS RUN BOTH MAC OS AND WINDOW XP NOW. So you actually can run ANY application (in fact even Linux and Unix, etc.) You can even run windows and mac os simultaneously. MACs are far more stable and user friendly too, and will last twice as long as a PC. Plus they run at much faster speeds. You actually get better value too--you'd have to spend almost twice as much to get a PC as powerful as a MAC.

They are not more expensive than a Pc an intel macl mini for example costs $500-$600 plus the ram (you can buy and install it yourself from a sight like newegg rather than get it from apple)

Mac more expensive? see this review a Macbook pro is $1000 less than a Dell Dimension compared side by side.

95% of viruses are written for Windows PCs. That's the best reason!
