People in our country normally eats three main meals a day. (and we the fattest counrty in the world)
In Europe, 4-5 meals a day is normal.
Eating less more often keeps your matobolism(sp?) up because it takes energy to digest food.
However, increasing the number of meals you eat could just be increasing the amount of time you can overeat.
It is important to eat only as many calories as you burn, so eating more is not a good idea-but eating the same amount, only in smaller portions more often, is
I know this isn't a definite answer, but I'm not sure there really is a definite answer to your question-it probably depends on the person

That is a difficult to answer question... what are you attempting to do w/ your diet... bulk up? lose weight? change body composition? you need to give more specifics into your diet... and even then the answer still will vary due to many factors such as how many calories is each meal, what time of the day (or do you have an abnormal work schedule), do you exercise, etc.
In a side note all of your answers may be working for you, but that may not apply to everyone. It is normally carbs you are instructed to avoid at night, and i know several competative bodybuilders, they eat normally 7 times a day, and pre-show when the "lean out" several actually up their meals to 9.

My track coach once mentioned something to that effect.... eating small meals throughout the day is "supposed" to be healthier than 3 large heavy meals. I think it depends on what you are eating for this system to work.

At least 5 times a day for diabetics, peptic ulcer patients and persons having hiatal hernia. Reduce the quantity and increase the number of times for taking food. This will help proper digestion.

6 equal sized balanced meals a day... that is the only way to be healthy. If you eat more or less, well then you're doing it wrong!
