For a dog licking is a show of affection, she loves you and wants you to know it.

My dog does the same....there just showing affection especially if you are the primary care giver. If I put lotion on my dog goes crazy and tried to lick it all off....gross! It could also be the salt in your skin....that your dog likes....its nothing to worry about....just give your dog a good rub and show him/her some affection...if the licking bothers you then tell your dog that and reassure 'stop' but show love at the same time.....

Obviously your dog loves you because licking in the face means that she thinks of you as her mother but you need to set restrictions. Also, try not to encourage it as a dogs mouth is not exactly the cleanest thing in the world.

My chihuahua has separation issues and licks me constantly. I asked a similar ? recently and was told that it is just a ploy for attention. I personally lit her have a few licks then say in a firm voice, "enough", she has gotten the picture and is even seeming calmer. Oh and the lotion thin is dead on!

Well, Dogs can sense an internal illness, & I have a friend whose Dog done that, on her throat area,& just wouldn't stop, well she found out later, she had Cancer of her Larynex. So, pay attention, your Dog may be knows something going on, inside your body, without pain, or symtoms!!. Go get checked by a Dr. to make sure things aren't developing.!!!

licking is vey normal for dogs it shows affection and what they wiil go thorough to pretect you but i would be careful dogs usually eat poop
