Yes I do care about the environment - a lot. Not looking after the environment as like never washing the sheets on your bed. Its not too bad for a while, but sooner or later its going to get uncomfortable and the creatures that thrive are all the wrong ones!!

I am educating my children in the hope that they are part of a generation that cares enough to effect business and political opinion as no amount of home recycling will save our environment! Its going to take a lot more. My children are aware of how food is grown, chemical additives used for no reason, packaging, pollutants, origins of wood etc. They are where I am looking for my hope.

Wow, this question just opened the mother-lode....

I know I think about the environment a lot, but I would rather I helped it more than I did. Hopefully I can help stop its diminishment, however I think it is quite impossible for humans to make the Earth inhospitable to organisms in a logical sense, so I don't believe "Saving the Environment" is an accurate phrase. More like, "Keeping the Environment Homo sapien-Friendly"

stop the new world order creating wars for oil and wealth and build a new society that shares wealth. So all people are truly equal.Once we start respecting each other then we will begin to respect our lives and our world. The New World Order of Blair and Bush faking atrocities like 9 11 so they drive a murderous quest to control the worlds fuel sources and then as now hike up prices artificially to keep the people poor.Stop this and we all stand a chance of a New better future. These corporate giants are raping our world for profit.Turning us into brain washed serfs. The working week is going up in hours.Prices are rising.Taxes are rising and wages are decreasing. They want control over you and all the benefits. While they expect us to toil to expand other peoples greed. Is this a free society.Free speech is fast evaporating in the UK and the USA.Dont believe me go on the web New World Order/ 9/11 or Martial Law look and see what were becoming. Amen

Yes. i worked with the Audubon society for a while teaching inner city kids to care for their environment. I also worked as an Outdoor Program Specialist for the Girl Scouts and helped kids there learn more about their environment. Now I work with children who have behavior problems and I teach them about the environment as well. I also practice what I preach.

Having done alot of fell walking etc, one is taught the country code ie not to leave rubbish always take it home, respect the environment and fellow creatures. Nowadays i only need walk a few yards and can see not everyone follows any such code (or law) Although we are now seeing fly-tipping being punnished which cannot be a bad thing.

We reduce the amount of 'stuff' and energy that we consume, we re-use as much of the stuff we can't reduce our consumption of and we recycle everything that can be recycled locally.

Yet all of our local neighbours seem to have actively increased the amount of 'stuff' they consume, re-use none of it, seem to find products to buy with as much packing as possible and still can't even be bothered to recycle.

This makes me feel that that 80% of the effort in caring for the environment is being done by less than 20% of the people, and it even feels like an uphill struggle.

Very much so. I do everything I can within the limits of my resources. I recycle about 85 to 95% of all my packaging, and am teaching myself to choose less products that use plastic materials in their packaging.
As much as I would prefer to travel to work on a bike, it's little too far to cycle so I have to drive. If everybody recycled as much as I do, there wouldn't be nearly as much space needed for landfill sites. Try this site for more info.

Yes, we recycle and try to teach the kids to do the same, plastic, tin, glass, paper etc. We would never have a big 4 x 4 and only have 1 car between us. We try to fit evegy efficient bulbs and turn lights off when not being used.

yes my family do, we recycle everything that can be recycled and we're very careful with things around the house like not leaving lights on( we have energy bulbs) and turning electrical things off that are not being used, we never leave taps running either. we only use environmentally friendly products, we use no chemicals at all and I'm a vegan and my daughter is a veggie. we also give loads to animal and environmental charities.
