Grab your passport, sunscreen and bathing suit for starters. Sandals, shorts and some light tee shirts. Bring a sweat shirt, you'll be surprised how it cools down some evenings. If your going to do the clubs, well bring that stuff... There is a Sam's club, Walmart in PV, right near where the cruise liners dock so they have about anything and everything including great prices on booze. Don't pack towels, your hotel will cover you on that stuff, Exchange some travelers cheques at the airport!!!, Check the exchange rate and go with the best rate, that usually is the one with a line of people..... Now DO NOT waste your time talking to the people that want you to attend a short breakfast meeting! Got it!!! All you will do is waste time and find yourself being pushed to by a time share.. Now, I don't know how old you are but these people would try to get a piggy back from a 5 year old. Many great things to do and see in PV but that's another story. Drop me a note if you want some suggestions for places to eat or visit.
Have fun.....

What we did was checked to see if we had a washer dryer in our room, we did so we packed lightly. Couple swimming suits, shorts, tee. If you plan to go clubbing maybe some nice casual attire, nothing really fancy no need to.
Please do not forget the comfortable walking shoes, lots of cobblestone streets.
I recommend the zipline adventure, sorry i don't remember the actual name but you zipline from tree to tree in the jungle, it's great. The kids made their mom do it, she loved it (46 yrs young).
Don't forget your passport, or birth cert and state issued d.l.
Your credit cards are good at most locations, that is what I did instead of carrying cash. I used the c.c where i could to keep the cash i had for the places that only took cash.
Just for your info: Playa de los Muertos is the public beach which is right next to the gay beach.
Have a great vacation

Hi - Bring swimsuit, shorts, t-shirts, sandals, camera and film, any prescription meds you might need, a tourist guide, plenty of one dollar bills. If you bring your credit card, call your credit card company to let them know you are traveling, otherwise it might not work there. A light long sleeved windbreaker or sweater if it gets cool. Leave beach towels at home (they'll have them). Passport is easier to travel with, but if you don't have one - picture ID and Birth certificate will still work. Take a phone card good in Mexico and the US if you don't have an international cell -
it can be used in the US if you don't need it and it's good to have for emergencies. That's about it - have a good time

Bring basic clothes for warm weather, cheap sunglasses and cap, and practical walking/ hiking shoes. Update your shots (tell doc where you're going), ask what medicines you should bring. Make sure your passport's good, keep your return tix and travel checques safe at all times. Try for a tan before you go to avoid overexposure.
DO NOT BRING EXCESSIVE CASH OR ELECTRONICS!! It will only draw thieves' attention to you.

Bring all that you need for daily living plus money. Leave behind I am better or mighter then thou attitude and I am white so i am superior feeling behind. Do not critisize and enjoy. remember that you are on vacation and have money to spend but dont look down on the people and their race, culture and their attitude. You are coming here so adjust to their way of life and they dont have to adjust to yours.

All you need as far as clothing is a few bathing suits, cover ups and evening attire. No need for shorts and tees.
Lots of sunscreen and a good book.
That pretty much does it.

Gamerunner2001's answer says it all! We didn't bother to exchange money since most every place will take dollars, but definately watch for the timeshare sharks. They are EVERY where. Have a great time!
