Professor David Kerr, from the University of Oxford, said: "Surgery still remains the only definitive and perhaps curative treatment - sadly though, in half those patients who have that operation, the cancer will come back.
Once the cancer has spread beyond the wall of the bowel, it becomes harder to treat.
Patients with stage IV disease rarely live beyond 5 years, and the median survival (meaning half the patients live longer, and half shorter) with treatment is between 1 and 2 years.

I was told not long ago I have a cyst on my liver, and one on the kidney. I asked him how did he know it was not cancer without a "biopsy"? He said by the shape! I don't anymore believe that at all. They also did twelve "biopsey's" on my prostate and found that one side was clear, and that I had one cancer core out of twelve. I go back in December for another biop. My PSA level was 5.2, but anything over 4.0 they would like to do a biop. If they find more in December it will be a "toss" of the coin wheather or not I will go through surgery.
But I too wish you well, and I have witnessed cures in lots of folks..

my boyfriends mother has colon cancer. She ended up with a colostomy bag and it has gone to her liver. It is terminal and she will die from it. They can do chemo to prolong your life but when it gets to the liver and or limph nodes it is usually downhill from there.
My mother had lung cnacer and it also got to the liver and limph nodes, she passed away about 5 months after it got to the liver and nodes.
I think it just depends on the person and the treatment they are getting on how long they will live with it.
Definitely consult with a doctor, they know the persons condition and can give you much better diagnosis and outlook!
Good luck

Yes, it is treatable. What odds does your doctor give you for life expectancy? Only God really knows for sure. In the meantime, there are new treatments and breakthroughs that are discovered every day. Perhaps someday there will be a cure for this dread disease. Hoping you will undergo further treatment and your cancer will go into remission. Good luck and God bless!

Sorry to hear that. You will have to talk to a specialist about it, no one on here can really answer that question with accuracy. God bless and good luck.
