Well first of all let me start by introducing some background information about myself. I have been attending a christian school for about 10 years. Over the years during chapel I have read the bible and pondered, how could this possibly be accurate? (translations? misinterpretations? think about it.. people make mistakes; hence the term human error) Which then led me to question whether god ( christian ) actually exists. I do believe that there is indeed a supreme power (controlling stuff like luck? or something like that) somewhere out there, but just not the god christians believe exist. Throughout the bible there are tons of contradictions and it is terribly one sided. (please don't quote the part of the bible which threatens a wrath of god if the bible were to be editted) If god really exists, where is he/she? Could all of the current population of humans on Earth have been the result of the procreation of Adam and Eve? I have no intentions of purposefully offending anyone.

how can one possibly, logically, have faith in something that does not want to reveal him/her-self? if god truly is almighty and powerful, why doesn't he just show his presence ? (please again, don't quote about him testing out patience/faith/praying everyday to him) If god created the universe. Who created god? I am just curious as SUPPOSING god does not exist, what have all christians been led to believe? about all those times their prayers were answered. Could it be like what Michael X said in his post " God exists as a product of our brains, not as an independent distinct sentient being. Our thoughts create god. " that the love for god has led people to believe what the bible wants people to believe?

My short and simple answer would be : No. Then again, it's not up to me to tell you how to live or what to believe... so don't take that as instruction to discontinue belief.

It sounds as though you're a non-denominational agnostic theist... and that's cool if it's cool for you. If you don't like the Bible, don't read the Bible. If it doesn't ring true for you, find your own path. No one's stopping you unless YOU'RE stopping you.

You ask does God really exist? Yes.
You also say that you want us to refrain from answering with a pro-christian answer. This limits me to the simple yes, you see?

So, I will ask you to put aside the Bible and everything you have learned at this christian school. Now, ask yourself. What would have really happened if the big bang theory was correct? Would we really just happen like that? Don't you think the universe has a Grand Engineer? You say you do think there is a supreme power. This is a good place to start.

Don't listen to anyone else. Listen to yourself. Trust yourself. If you really want answers to your questions then you need to pray. Pray with an open mind and a sincere heart and ask your questions. Be specific. Be very specific. Pray every night for as long as it takes to get your answers.

I had to pray for almost a year, but I got my answers. Every single one of them. Not from people, not from the Bible, not from school, not from books or the media. I got my answers from Heavenly Father.

During the great apostasy, the church became more of a political entity than a true Christian one. It became more interested in membership in the church for political power rather than for the sake of Christian belief. Consequently, these Christian church leaders polluted the teachings of Christ with all manner of pomp and circumstance, and changing things to be more suitable to how the people felt things should be. Because of this, many plain and simple truths were removed from the bible. Important things that would eliminate much of the confusion that exists in the bible. Because of this apostasy, God removed the priesthood from the earth to be restored in the last days. God exists. If you would like to know more, contact me.

I have always wondered this too. They say the bible was written by man. I also thought that when the bible was written(by man), people just believed he was telling the truth, people were very gullible back then. Just think, there are a lot of gods out there that people worship and believe in, but which one is the right one. Maybe none of them are. Maybe there isn't one.

According to the eminent philosopher, David Hume, if god exists then god is the analogy between the human mind and a rotting turnip. this is because the world isn't always such a nice place.

Hume is fascinating - he refutes the classic arguments for the belief in god and is witty to boot.

Personally I think the only reason to believe in God is faith. I have faith in human spirit and in nature but not in god.

The worst reason for believing is because you selfishly want the reward of going to heaven / not going to hell.

the answer to your ? is yes he exists and how do we know this...its all up to faith....faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.... listen it all comes down to what you believe.... now one day you will die... and when u die the truth of the matter is you will go some where....people think hell is just a place to have fun... its a place of partys but its not, its a literal place, and so is heaven, one day when u die you will go to one of these places.... listen ive grown up in a christian home too, and went and am still going to a christian school, ive questions the same thing but all the answers point to the cross, jesus christ died for our sins because he loves us and with out him dying for our sins we would end up in hell because our sins can not go unpunished, but if we recieve the gift of salvation that Christ extends to us then we can be saved, and go to heaven when u die, some people think this is nonsense but ITS NOT and you will find that out, whether if you make the right decision and you accept Gods gift or if you deny it, make sure u think long and hard about this because its a really serious decision to make God bless you

Yes you are right. The only 'evidence' christians have is the bible, which was written thousands of years ago and contradicts itself. I enjoy discussing religion with religious people but sooner or later i always hit the brick wall, 'god just wanted it that way'. It frustrates me because christians can't explain everything and 'god just wanted it that way' is NOT an answer.

Were we all related, our DNA would show the relation. I do not believe in a god, and I have come to that conclusion after much logical thinking on the subject. I do believe that I am mentally incapable of believing in something so illogical, and thus it could never be my "fault" that I cannot have faith in some abstract, unproven concept.

There is no such thing as luck, life is what we make of it. I hope that you can look inside your self and find him he is great. he makes the flowers pretty. he makes the rain for them he is all powerful, and everyone will know him someday, everyone will stand before him and give and account of there self.

Well i would say ask the Lord to reveal himself to you, people feel that way alot. but its Faith that will help you. When you get to that point where your starting not to believe you have to actually seek to know truth within christianity FIRST. maybe just who or what your being taught is not accurate not christianity itself. I can say with all assurance the bible has no contradictions if you know and UNDERSTAND what your reading.
