I fly all the time with one of my Pomeranians. As long as your dog is crate trained, she should be fine. If you have a lay over, be sure to bring some indoor pee pads in case you don't have time to take her outside. You can just take her into a bathroom stall, put a pad on the floor, and let her go. Also, you can't bring any liquids on planes anymore, so I would advise bringing a collapsible bowl or other travel bowl (or even better, an empty water bottle with a spout), and ask for water on the plane if she needs it. Be sure your dog travels wearing her harness with ID tags, and a phone number to reach you. Also, it is a good idea to bring along a recent photo of your dog, just in case she gets lost. I suggest bringing a soft sided travel bag made for dogs (contact the airline to see what they allow), and get your dog used to it before the day of your trip. Get her to love the bag, and see it as something special, this will help reduce her stress while traveling. My dog LOVES his travel bag. Any time I get it out and say, "You wanna go somewhere?" or "in the bag..." he jumps right in and can't wait to go somewhere with me! Try to find a travel bag with outside pockets so you can bring an extra leash, and whatever else you may need for your baby. Remember to bring your dog's hard crate, too, (if she has one) in your checked baggage. You can also chech it all by itself. This will help your puppy to feel comfortable at your travel destination. Remember to bring along some of her favorite toys and blankets. Some airlines require health certificates from a veterinarian as well. Hope this information helps, and have fun with your dog!!

I took my puppy on a fleight when she was 13 weeks old. Don't forget that you will need to get a health certificate from your vet just prior to leaving. The only 'risks' in general are stress but if you take your puppy for a lot of car rides and they don't stress her out she should be fine in the plane. I took my puppy for a lot of car rides and she'd just fall asleep in my lap, she did the same on the plane only in her travel bag. Also make sure to let your puppy spend some time in the bag so that it's familiar to her. G'luck!

Check with your airline. Some will not allow pets in the passenger area. No, the risks are very slight. You might want to check with your vet to get some doggie downers to help calm the dog during the flight.

The only thing I can think to add to what Desynee said, is call the airlines to make sure you have an approved carry on carrier and what ever health certificates they will require.
