Have you thought about getting a dog being a life time commitment? The dogs lifetime? If money is a big problem for you need to think before you act about things like shots yearly and heart worm medications and flea treatments which are a necessary evil for dogs. Also is there someone you know to watch the dog if you go away? Kennels are very expensive and will insist on uptodate shots and a kennel cough shot before they allow them entry. Do you have a fenced yard and dog house or are you willing to walk the dog? It is a many year friendship and can be very rewarding if you are able to do it properly, if not don't short change either one of you.

dont get one from a petshop please, see my other previous question - you can keep a dog without much money - i suggest feeding your dog on a very good quality dried dog food which you can buy in big sacks and it lasts ages, obviously a small dog would be best, the other advantage of feeding on this type of food is its good for the dog, its general health and wellbeing, its teeth, etc. i use a product called Wafcol it is top class and works out at only a couple of pounds a week

Go to your local dog pound. they charge around 70 for a fully spayed and treated animal, but like everyone else id ask that you rethink. Dogs can be expensive to keep especially if they get ill. Even flea treatments etc aren't that cheap.

i think it great if you can get a resue dog! but just remember to get your dog insured so if it gets ill you can afford vets bills - my dog is insured and has been poorly lately so i'm glad i had insurance or i would not of been able to pay the vets bills
