A car dealer near me is selling a bunch of demo cars for a desicounted price. What's the catch? Are demo cars considered new? Test drive cars? Used in Showroom?

A demo is not brand new, but it has never been sold. It is a car that salesman have driven for a while for their own use.

Whats A Demo Car

In the UK a demo car MUST be registered, so it cannot be regarded as new.

The demo car requirements of manufacturers vary considerably - some require the cars to be changed at 5000 miles, others after a certain period of time.

Some demo cars can have very low mileages, and can be a good buy, because the dealer will have received extra discount from the manufacturer for registering the car. He may be willing to pass some of this on to the customer.

Yes, demo cars are considered new and if you buy one, you would still be the original owner, they have been used for demonstrations (test drives). They are discounted because they will typically have up to 2500 miles on them vs. a brand new non demo car that may have only a few miles. They are a great deal if you are looking into a new car, and they still carry the full warranty.

As long as they have not been registered they are considered new. They are usually driven by sales people or managers at the dealership, they usually have less than 5000 miles, you get balance of warrenty
