it is hard to admit to one's self that they must take meds everyday of thier life to be "normal" We people with bi-polar have some really thick heads. For me it took a very life changing event to realize that I NEED the meds. Even then I still wasn't 100% sure that I needed them but once a medicine change was made I KNEW I NEEDED these meds. I believe that once you find the RIGHT drug combination it lessens your reluctance to take the pills because you will have been able to experience "normal" and will want that feeling all the time. Good Luck!

Whenever I am feeling better, I start to think -- 'why do I need these pills. I can do this on my own.' Then I go off them and WHAM I am worse off. One thing I have FINALLY convinced myself of is that mental health is as important as physical health. I talk BP meds and know they are important. So are the antidepressants.

You are IMPORTANT. Take your meds.

Simply cause when you start to feel better you tend to think that means you are better and dont need the med's anymore. Stopping and starting your meds like that can mess you up.

It's because you are feeling better that you stop. You just have to continue on the medication until your doctor tells you. Stopping medication "cold turkey" is very dangerous, especially ones for bipolar disorder!! Stay on them if they're working for you!!

I was on antidepressants and they made me more depressed. I turned into a cutter. When I stopped taking them I got so much better. I think the drugs they put us on are a joke. They can't cure, if they make it better it is only temporary, and they can even make you worse.

well when you take them your mood elevates to near manic and you feel as if you are better. but what they do is also keep you form going manic which is almost as bad as depressed. keep on them andyou will even out and live a productive life
