Unless you are moving to Australia do not take your Dog.
Australia has a quarantine. Your dog will have be quarantined for at lest 30 days. If you are going for a visit put them in a kennel.

I do know australia has a 30 day mandatory quarantine on cats and dogs.
I don't know if you are with the dog.
You will have to have the dog as cargo, a Lab will be to large to have as carry on luggage.
Shipping cargo is $539 with most airlines. That does not cover quarantine fees or import fees.
Live animals have to fly into certain airports.
I will attach a couple of sites that will boggle the mind, and hopefully help.

See the following web page for further information regarding the exporting of cats and dogs to Australia: http://www.affa.gov.au/content/output.cfm?ObjectID=D2C48F86-BA1A-11A1-A2200060A1B01896.

Further information on importing cats and dogs into Australia can be found by clicking on the following: AQIS Quarantine Information. Click on either of the following links for the appropriate form: The Permit Application for Importing Dogs and Cats and The Permit Application for Importing Disability Assistance animals .

Maybe this site will help also:

CRAP, I hate it when people don't have a contact email,
oh well, when I checked one of the sites above would not connect. If the asker reviews this try this site:

Too much, put it in a kennel until you get back. Unless you are moving there, of course, in which case I would contact "Golden Retrievers In Need" (G.R.I.N.) to find it a new home. I got two retrievers from them and can recommend them highly.

It is really expensive. It would depend on the flight you will be on though. Just call and ask about it, and they will tell you. I wanted to take my dog just to another state, and it was over 200 bucks. I just drove there. I know you can't do that, so just try to find the cheapest flight that will let you.
