Ok, husband looking to re-enlist in the us army after 4 years being out. He was infantry and served 4 years active. How hard is it to re-enlist. He is 30 and had honorable discharge. Would he have to take ASVAB again? Would he have to go back through basic training? Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Lol you got alot of the cowards and runners to Canada answering this one.

There should be no problem for him to get back in. Any recruiter should be able to give you the information you need. God Bless and good luck.

Ignore the whiners........

You can't re-enlist once discharged! He can enlist! After 4 year's I am sure some training would be involved. Even the National Guard trains once a year!

Why would someone in his 30's want to enlist in the Army as a grunt? Does he want to be the last man home in a body bag in a war that was started based on lies? If he does come home that way, all the neocon yellow belly Republicans just cut widows benefits from $25,000 to $13,000 a year, and also cut the taxes of the wealthy!!

I wouldn't want to join any service under anycircumstance! You are not supported unless you call lip service support! That doesn't cost them anything!!

When I was thinking of re-joining I heard there was a five year grace period for Basic. However since we have become computerized he may want to change his MOS since even just plain infantry has become more catagorized. Be smart, use the intrnet to your advantage, seeking out choices before he gets back involved.

The Army should take a 11B in a New York minute. Minimal training beforehand too.

I am pretty sure the basic training would not take place again. If he is healthy, he is probably in and at his last held rate. But my son in law would know better. He is getting back from 2nd year tour in Iraq.
