I personally believe it strengthens us and helps us look at life in a very different perspective.

No, your not being punished. The earth is cursed because of original sin - the earth is full of weeds and thorns and disease and humans carry disease and illness in their genes... It is not a perfect place to live. The sun shines on the good and evil people the same - so there is good for all and there is bad for all. It is a part of our life experience here.
I'm sorry to hear you are sick - it is so uncomfortable and difficult to be ill. Do the best you can each day - as I'm sure you have been.
God will somehow bring something good out of this too because you love him.

God is infinite. That statement means more than people realize. There can only be one infinite anything because infinity encompasses EVERYTHING. That means that God is everything, you, me, the disease, the desk I am working at, etc… Our conciseness (collectively) is Gods awareness in this creation.
Existence is what it is so that God could experience everything through us. When we die we remember the whole and once again become one with God. You are not being punished, tested and it is not a mistake for you are a part of Gods awareness. The duality was needed in order to see the parts of the whole on a scale where it all could be measured and experienced relative to each other. The suffering and pain are just as important as the contentment and pleasure for in the end the experience and how we express who we truly are relative to it is the only meaning. When it ends we rejoin God and suffering once again becomes impossible for we are one with the whole.

I don't think so, most of the time it's brought on genetically, an accident or misfortune. some are from lifestyle or dangerous choices. sometimes even stress due to outside sources.
life can be very challenging to a lot of people and it is truly amazing what some people endure.
it isn't an easy question to answer but many people who do have these types of conditions end up changing other peoples lives and if they do survive it often changes their own way of living.
Best Wishes, hope you are going to get better:)

I do not believe that those who suffer from life threatening illnesses/conditions are being punished. Many incredibly good people are faced with these situations (being it themselves or their loved ones). I believe no one is to blame in these situations. Parents so often blame themselves when their child has such a problem. I believe life gives these children with such conditions and illnesses to worthy parents who will provide the love and support the child needs. I believe that it takes the strongest, most loving people to be able to endure this kind of suffering.

I will answer by giving an example...
There is a man at the hospital who is withered on one side of his body and somewhat speech impaired...He manages to make his way around from floor to floor and do his job. He radiates a light from his being that is so genuine and never is he seen without a kind smile...
Whenever I see him, I say Hi and ask him what's up...He usually has something in his pocket, like a lighter or key chain with a saying on it and will show it to me with a big grin.
The other day when I saw him, he handed me a book of poetry that he had written. I readily bought his book and when I began to read his eclectic and esoteric love letters, I realized that he is not only disabled but gay.....So you can imagine how much cruelty he has suffered in his lifetime.
I realized that this humble person, who everyone basically ignores in the busy shuffle of the hospital, has substance that few of us will ever know about...It is so evident to me by stopping to notice this man that God really is near to the broken hearted.

Most of the time, a disease, illness or condition is not directly anyones fault, but people who do have things that they could have avoided getting (most cases of AIDS, some cases of diabetes, some cancers) are somewhat deserving of their conditions. Being an atheist, I believe that everyone is directly responsible for their own actions or lack thereof, and when one does not act in their own interests, bad things happen. Eventually bad choices catch up to you, and thus a kind of karma evens things out.

it is going to likely be obtrusive. If God Loves us all, than needless to say it fairly is not Him that makes for such damaging situations. Even an Almighty and All stable God might desire to basically relate with mankind, as much as mankind, could relate back with Him. There not being an all stable and Almighty God who created the universe that fairly exists, does not eliminate such damaging situations from our life. The could nonetheless be there. The life of negatives does not rule out the prospect for positives to exist, extraordinarily, in the event that they do. You look to allow your concentration on damaging issues define each and every thing to and for you, a fashion too plenty. Why is it which you and such rather some others could permit negatives define each and every thing to you, in spite all the positives which would be discovered, yet not permit the stable issues define issues to you, even even with each and all of the negatives which would be discovered? Why do you decrease your person potential for the liberty of and in effective attention, with the help of your concentration on the damaging? what's so appealing approximately each and all of the misery and destruction in life, to you, extremely than what might nicely be discovered to be effective and effective? Is it rather this form of secret why such rather some issues in this worldwide do not bypass the way they might desire to, if everybody is so centred, on how they don't artwork the way they might desire to, rather of, how they are able to or do artwork the way they might desire to? Of coarse the worldwide is going to stink, if human beings constantly have their head up their own butts, smelling the crap each and all of the time.

No, I don't think those who suffer are being punished. There are people out there that have done some horrible things, and will never know the suffering of an illness. It sickens me that life isn't fair. God isn't punishing us either, He is proving our faith.

If that were the case, why doesn't Fred Phelps have AIDS, Pat Robertson have lockjaw, and George Bush a drug addiction?
Oh, wait, he already does....
