Do volunteer work... it will make you feel good about yourself and that will build your confidence. Funny how when we help others that we also actually help ourselves!

I feel your pain. As a child I was criticized and physically abused. I was told that I will never be no more than a vagabond. All that criticisms motivated and I proved everyone wrong, I had good grades in high school, I also played basketball, soccer and did track and field. After high school, I went to college, now I have an associated degree, a Bachelor degree in computer forensics, right now I'm working on attending graduate school in Telecommunications Management. I did all that with God's help and students loans. I complimented myself as often as possible as a mean of encouragement, I attended church services on regular basis, I volunteered in the community and I joined many on campus clubs to keep me occupy.

Remember, going to college is something you are doing for yourself, for your future, your wife and kids. Take advantage of your school counseling, find some one to tutor your. President Bush didn't do well in college, he has a 2.0 GPA and now he is the president of the USA. You can do it, do it for yourself, forget the past, that is history and focus on today, don't worry about tomorrow. Your reward is sooner than later.

Been there done that, and still doing it. Everybody tells me I thrive under pressure and I do, but before doing what I have to do I feel like you, lack of confidence and that I will fail. This is because I was highly criticized as a child myself. I try and stay away of the people whom make me feel inferior.

Well, I can certianly relate, I was like that in High School.

There is no quick fix, you have to teach yourself to not care what other people think. There are going to be some, your closest friends , if you trust them, trust their views. Other wise start to rethink the way you deal with other people. It took me years, now I'm to the point that I dont care what others think, as long as my friends are my friends. I will always trust their thoughts, views and their advice.

It will take time, just stick to it. Oh, and dont walk with your head down. Look where you are going, look folks in the eye. Sounds very dumb, I know, but try it for a while.
