He has 4 F's and a D. The teachers say he knows the work. The reason his report card is bad is because he is Autistic and does not finish his work or turn it all in. Hubby and I think he should repeat 6th grade. The Principal and other teachers think he should go on to 7th grade.

I would go to the school board and ask that remain in the 6th grade again go above the principal and the teachers head

You are the parent and you have the right to decide what is best for your child, even if he does know the work-he has to show it. A teacher may have confidence in him and he may pass. But you know your child. My aunt is a high school teacher. She has taught for at least 20 years. She says that it is the parent's decision (by law). You are the guardian. You decide. Sometimes the best decision isn't always the most favorable. Don't sell your kid's education short. Repitition can be a good thing. When he's ready it will show! It may hurt him later if he's not, then what? Follow your gut.

your child ,your choice. dont let the school win if you dont want him togo up a grade. put you foot down.
