I have an immigration appointment in 3 weeks, where they question you. My sister is getting married in 1 and a half months. I have applied for Advance parole, but haven't recieved the letter yet..When can I expect to go home? Will I have to wait for my advance parole letter? Or will I get to leave after the immigration appointment? Personal experience?

PS: I applied legally, and I had the right to apply by an alien relative. I applied for adjustment of status

Depends on how you applying for permanent resident status(green card, adjustment of status).
And if the entry document, I-94 issued on your last entry was expired over 6 months before you submitted your residence application,I-485. The advance parole is usually reserved for emergent travel while I-485 is pending. But the good news is if your appointment is in 3 weeks and if applying through a qualifying family relationship, all should go smoothly and you'll receive temporary evidence of your new status that will enable you to travel while waiting for your Green card to come in the mail. See it all the time.

I'd stay far, far away from advanced parole if I were you. When you attempt to return to the U.S. they can refuse you, even if you have advanced parole. It's totally arbitrary. Go to this website, which has a great immigration bullentin board:
