The US has become a delusional democracy, so its citizens are also delusional if they still believe that they live in the greatest democracy. Don't forget that the US also imprisons more people than any other country. Also, that economic inequality is terrible here. The main reason Bush is selling democracy to other nations is that it is yet another way to pump money into corporations that fund Republicans. Read the great new bold and timely book Delusional Democracy - Fixing the Republic Without Overthrowing the Government - it will shock and enlighten you!!

Highest crime rate, yes. Highest murder rate, arguably not. Spam, not for a while (see China, India and Philippines for current top-10). As far as pornography, that's the side effect of free speech.

What does any of that have to do whether a country has anything good to teach. It's not an all or nothing system.

hah. yeah, um mabe you should reconsider your question, but i suggest you dont bother. america as far as i know means both north america, and south america... that is the entirety of the western "world" or hemisphere. but heres the thing, even if you do mean the united states, you must take into mind that the united states contains far more people than any county in the western hemisphere. your putting us in a race with 2 mini competetors and a bunch of ants. include the entire world and we dont even close on any of those. the only one you have an arguement for is crime rate, but what you fail to realise is that is only because we actualy have somewhere to report crimes to. if there was a way to report crimes in india, and a reason to do so, meaning they would actualy do something, they would be flooded with reports of crimes.

serriosly, they need to put the whole research your answer in the question area as well.

Spreading good is not what the Bush, Cheney regime, is trying to do. They are spreading fear and hatred with their silly coined phrases such as "Islamo-Fascist" and "suicider". By now we should have all noticed that they do the exact opposite of what they say they are doing and if they say they aren't doing something, you can bet that's precisely what they are doing. Regardless of how sullied you may think America is, there are still enough good, well- intentioned people here to spread peace and prosperity to other countries. Remember, it is not the American people that are so despised abroad. Nor are we the ones that have created this Iraqi nightmare we're in. Our right to choose our own leadership has been usurped by fraud, physical attacks and illegal rules. And the people in power are still trying to wipe the smirks of pleasure off their ugly faces because they got by with it. The first act of spreading good to the rest of the world should be to remove the threat the rest of the world feels from our leaders by changing leadership. I know that we can do that if we try hard enough.

Who told you such tales? America is one of the few countries fighting pornography and illegal spam on the Internet and in real life. Perhaps what other countries fail to realize is that freedom requires that ills be admitted, not swept under a rug. That you imagine there is a need for obedience to learn or teach says your education may be in dire need of some truth which comes from experience, not ideological books.

Maybe you should ask the British, French, Dutch, Spanish, Romans, Greeks.........and don't forget the 10th century Muslims. In other words any group of people who for whatever reasons became the elite groups of their time. The operative phrase here is "their time", all good things must end, that's the way of the universe. Change is inevitable, societies rise, hold sway for a time, and decline, nothing is forever.
