I recently moved out of the city to get away from the noise and confusion. We found a quiet little place off the beaten path...it seemed almost too good to be true. Our only neighbor was an older lady who worked 3rd shift at a hospital. Well, she up and moved a month ago and the new owners are - to put it bluntly - a real pain in the A**!

They have 3 loud four-wheelers, 4 screaming kids, 1 insane dog, and the man is constantly running either a chainsaw or some other gas-powered implement of destruction. At this point, they are, thankfully, leaving before dark, but they leave the stupid dog which barks all night long. I can't wait until they are fully moved in. I thought about going over there, but I saw the owner with a rifle the other day, and I kind of want to stay on his "good side". PLEASE help me! I can only drink so much alcohol...now I can't even enjoy my day off!

I hate it when new neighbors move in and have only consieration for themselves. I have similar problems with the new one across the street from us. His dog barks ALL the time, but if my dog barks when a stranger comes into the yard, he calls the police and complains. My brother was getting ready to put a new septic system in, he has friends in the biz and they were gonna help so it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. They were gonna get it all ready for him, then call the inspector out to check it and get the permit (it is legal), the idiot called the police & the city inspectors to get them in trouble, but since it wasn't hooked up yet, everything was OK.
I'm sorry aboutt your new rude neighbors, maybe after a while the new will wear off and they will quiet down. At least they aren't calling the police everytime you turn around. Oh, eventually the police told him if he didn't stop making false empty complaints, HE would be the one in trouble.

If they are just moving in, it is quite an experience and excitement for everyone. Hopefully, a couple weeks it will calm down. School is back in session and the days are getting shorter. As for the dog, actually you can call the police, but they will know it's you if your the only other person in the neighborhood. It's called disturbance during the night hours. Actually, personally, you might have you hands full of summer helpers if you give them a chance. Good luck!

Call the cops over and tell them they are being loud, you can get a ticket for being to loud. If that doesn't work, run stuff all day too! See if they move out. I would just move out though, save all the frustration.

Ask the police if there are noise ordinances where you live and if so file a complaint (although the neighbor will probably figure out who filed it). I wouldn't use ear-plugs because you need to be able to hear your smoke detector if it goes off.

Most places have noise ordinances. Check with your local law authority. They will be able to tell when the ordinance take effect. In my area it is 11 p.m., anything before that is "free game". They can make as much noise as they want and the law can do nothing but ask them to try and tone down the noise.

I suspect you may have to sell and move...this doesn't sound as if it is going to work out well for anyone concerned. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but bad neighbors do not change. Good luck

Ahhhhh....I pity you. They don't sound like the type of people that you can go over and talk to.
If you tried being loud and obnoxious, i dont think they would notice.
Sounds like moving is the only solution, but probably not one for your right now

Well, if it's during the day I don't think there's anything you can do about it. However, at night I'm pretty sure you're allowed to contact someone to complain about a dog barking (it's their pet; their responsibility).

Report them in the police and let the police talk to them.
