Basements, what fun!

The secret to it is that a basement cannot be covered by a floor unless the level is exactly one wall in height. That's the wall tool in the game. You can check your progress by using a wall inside of the area you dig.

There are things you can do like a sunken living room which keeps tots from playing in the toilet, since youngsters can't do stairs yet. :)

You can get lots of basement ideas from the Official BBS on by searching for basements and restricting the search CATEGORY to How to/Tutorial.

I'm assuming your basement is already there and you want to build on to it? Either way if you have a house, and want to make a basement, or have a basement and want to make a house.

You just have to dig with the dig tool. there are suggestions on how to do this on the ea website.
