Is there any place (like a website) where I can find what all the instruments are/what they mean of the cockpit of an airplane (preferably the Cessna 172 and Cessna Citation)?. Like I really need to know everysingle little knob and what they do...I'm using Flight Gear Simulator and I also need to know how to land a jet (Cessna citation), where can I find some info showing how to do that?

And also, how does a pilot know when he is already lined up with the runway how far away he is?

Get a flight manual for your favorite light airplane at an FBO at your nearest airport. Also, a copy of Airman's Information Manual, published by the FAA. That will get you most of what you need to know.

There are many places to find out how the instruments are used and how they work. Go to google and type in "how aircraft instruments work" and this will give you an idea. Also you can go to FAA.gov and that too will help.

In the UK there is a company called Transair who sell posters of aircraft panels.

Why not visit your nearest Flying Club, and ask there? You will find most of them very friendly places, and they will be keen to share their enthusiasm with you.

Do you need a map of any major metropolitan areas also? Preferably one with large buildings? Because I'm pretty sure you can get one here: http://forums.macnn.com/85/macnn-lounge-archives/69400/i-hate-terrorists/

Contact the manufacturers and request owners manuals. Unless you are an Arab, in which case I don't know.
