I don't know if it will "ever" be cured. It's a genetic disease. At this stage in the game the medical community has a long way to go to fix genetically induced medical conditions. Treating symptoms, though, is an easier task to manage. Take your medicine.
So I don't know if it will "ever" be cured, but I can assure you that if there is a genetic therapy developed for it, it will take a long time to get to that point, and even then the therapy might be something they can give to a developing fetus to "cure" it, but as a fully developed adult they may not have something to help you. Again, with genetic diseases, treating the symptom is the best we can do at this point.

If all the people in the world with sickle cell anaemia refused to have children, then it could be eradicated.
Once you have it, there is no easy cure at the moment.
In order to cure it, you would have to change the DNA of the cells making red blood cells in the bone marrow so that they do not produce Hb S but instead produce the normal haemoglobin (Hb).
This would be possible if an accurate technique were developed using, say, a retrovirus reverse transcriptase able to "write in" a new gene. However, the possibilities of this are a long way off yet.

Researchers are working on trying to find a cure or a reversal to the cells, yes you will have to take medication and you should start doing some research and talking to your doctor about your lifestyle. See a nutritionist as well. Stand up and take action and learn how you can fight this pain. Take hope that you can learn how combat this. My prayers are with you!! Good luck.

Yes it can be cured, by Jesus Christ. He is a healer, and if you don't have a relationship with Him, I suggest you get one quick. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. You can live a long, prosperous, and healthy life.

It is a genetic trait that passes it on. By identifying those who carry it and pass it on, eliminating reproduction in those persons, it could be eliminated through reproduction. Cured-no, eliminated yes.

Eugenics can cure it in one generatilon. Every carrier of the gene knows it and if he or she would adopt instead of breed it would be over.
