And before you call me a "racist", my DH is Chinese, and his parents spend all their free time in Atlantic City or Foxwoods in Connecticut. I see buses all the time on I-95 in CT filled with Chinese people obviously heading to the casinos...I pass at least one on my way home from work every day. And I know they are going to the casinos, because the bus usally says "Foxwoods" or "Mohegan Sun" on them!

And sadly, yes, DH likes to gamble too. He is smart about it though, he sets a limit of what he will spend, and that's that. His parents seem like they are gambling his inheritance away (his "joke", not mine).

Meganater-it's an abbreviation for "Dear Heart" or "Dear Husband". Very common. How did you get to Level 2 on Yahoo answers without knowing that?

I live in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world. And I see a LOT of asians and I know that there are two real reasons why so many of them gamble here.

1. It is a cultural thing to gamble. Many asian cultures have games of chance learned as children. It is much more accepted. Like drinking wine is in france.

2. Many asian countries, such as Japan, have higher exchange rates for American Dollars, so it's cheap to come on Vacation to the US. That plus No. 1 and you've got your answer. Why do so many Americans like to Vacation in Mexico?

Sylvasta,

I'm Filipino, and it does appears that a large number of Asians gamble. I think it's a good at math thang, combined with a form of gambling addition. I think it may be hereditary!?!

When I started, I quit when I won or lost $50. Depending if I won or loss, the $50 restaurant comp was a bonus or even money.

The largest portion of Asians at the casino I worked at were Vietnamese. All they mainly played was Minibac.

I've seen filipino mostly in casinos. They usually play a type of poker the casino offers and it's not HOLD 'EM. I think they just probably just go in groups that way it may seem there's a lot of them.
