I like that show better now than when I was a kid, my girls like it a lot today.
And yes, bearing false witness includes telling things that are false that are good or bad. When you lie about someone- even saying something good that is not true you give people false expectations- a little on the extreme side for an example but take the story of Rumplestiltskin- Do not bear false witness- basically don't lie about stuff no matter waht the lie is :)

I thought it was a wonderful prime time program at the time of it's popularity, (late 70's early 80's). I have though lost a lot of respect for the main Character, the late Michael Landon since seeing a Bibliography about him, produced by his son. In actual life, Michael was an adulterer, abusive & later absent father and lived in a very un-Christian world. I have lost a lot of respect for the show since then. Though, the same is true with Tom Cruise & Tom Hanks movies, after finding that they are gullible cult members of the organized crime family of Scientologist.

I did not see it as a Christian show, but rather a show that portrayed what life was really like back in the frontier days. Yes, they went to church, and all that, but it was not made as a "Christian" show.
It had good strong family values in it (but that is not Christian, since Jewish, and Jehova Witnesses and even Wiccan faiths all have strong family values in their religions) and it was a show that I believe allowed people to learn from while they were watching it.
Laura Ingles Wilde was a brilliant author who had the foresight to write down what life was like back then, so generation after generation would be able to live their lives, and learn their values.
An excellent show.

That show actually was a good teacher of both morals and values. I think, however, that when you take the time to look at any situation, you can find the God's grace in it.

it was a good show
now there was a more recent "Christian" show where the dad was a minister and they had a bunch of kids including twins.. and that show was terrible - I cant think of the name of it.. oh ya "seventh Heaven"
that was a TERRIBLE example of a family - ALL the kids were despirately lonely in need of being in a "relationship" even the 7 year old girl.. it was disgusting and probably messed up alot of kids who watched it

I love the show, too, but I don't see it as a "Christian" show, but as a program that shows good people living their lives. Oh, and how to deal with bad people, like that Nellie and her talking machine that she used to embarrass one of those Ingals girls....

I think it is a wonderful show with good morals in general.. a belief system does not need to be tagged onto it.

I grew up on that show. They were adapted from good books, and done quite well. They delved into many things which would have shocked viewers on other shows.
