I was just sitting at the computer and my heart rate shot up to 124 for no apparent reason?

I'm am taking a medicine that might make it do that

what medicine are you taking? Read the literature for the medicine you're taking, you might have taken too much too soon. If that's not it, the sudden rush of your heartbeat might be an anxiety attack. Try breathing slowly - deep breathes and slowly release it.

What were you doing at the computer?? Maybe you should go to the doctor.
