According to Cecil Adams, Turkeys don't lay enough eggs to make their sale economically viable. Most of the eggs are used to make more turkeys instead.

chicken lays 300 or so eggs per year, while the average turkey produces only 100 to 120

my brother raises turkeys and those are some huge eggs, but soooo goood
