YES! I started Celexa and i was warned that it may cause weight gain, but I did it anyway. Be careful, I put 10 pounds on in the 1st month. I did a some research then asked my doctor about Lexapro. Its the "brother" to Celexa without so many side effects. I have been on Lexapro for 6 months now and I am fine, no weight gain. My sister also is on Celexa and has put on ALOT of weight. She doesn't want to change due to alot of personal reasons. Good luck!

I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me. The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. They are relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can't tell I'm taking any medication at all. There are a lot of people that take Wellbutrin with their SSRI's, it helps to counteract some of the possible side effects - such as drowsiness, weight gain, and the sexual side effects. It really does make a difference!! The last time I was in the doctor office, I had lost 8 lbs - not a lot, but in the right direction. I give the Wellbutrin SR the credit for the weight loss, since it does help me to be more active.

I started celexa in april 2006 and it changed my tastes. I used to love sweets, candy, frensh fries but now I get sick just thinking about those foods or even smelling them. So, no I did not gain weight, I have actually lost some. Good luck, it is a great medication.

Even after doubling the dosage I still havent gained weight. Give it a try!

I was on it for only 6 weeks and gained 10 lbs. It made me feel hungry all the time. If it helps with your depression then stay on it and eat better healthy meals. Good luck!!!

I wasn't on it long enough to notice any side effects. One antidepressant that really causes weight gain is depakote.
