Yes there is a gold colored ring around the starter Nissan Service manual calls it a gusset between the engine block and transmission the starter bolts over it and there is that 14mm bolt under the starter thru the gusset that the cooler hoses get in the way of and holds the cooler hose bracket . And gusset on the other side also. I would think we found it! Rubbing because starter is solid on the transmission bet the starter bolts go all the way thru the starter by 10 mm.
